We’re Officially a Non-Profit!
(Yeah, that probably means we’ll be even more poor. But at least we’re tax-deductible)
For the last few years, Project Twenty1 has been operating under the umbrella of the International House Philadelphia, a 501(c)3 company. The reason many organizations (and individuals!) operate under a fiscal sponsors is in order to receive charitable contributions and apply to a small pool of grants that are unavailable to individuals or for-profits. With the help of our legal advisor Alex Levit of ReedSmith, LLP and Ryan Leib of Keystone Wealth Management, we passed through the first phase of paperwork that has made us our very own 501(c)3 company! That means, as of yesterday, Project Twenty1 is 100% owned by the community. ::sniff:: Our little baby is growing up! It’s still going to be a massive flurry of paperwork to receive tax-exempt status and develop the rest of our board, but we’re excited!
